Moseley lost one of it’s brightest stars on Sunday 21st June 2020.
Rick Coleman, who taught English at Moseley School and before that Moseley Modern School, was an inspiring teacher who influenced generations of students. He passed away on Sunday 21st June and our thoughts are with his family.
Dear Friend of Rick,
Unfortunately, due to this pesky virus we couldn’t invite even of a fraction of the people that we would want to Rick’s funeral. However, it was streamed online so his friends could follow proceedings from the comfort of their own armchair – Rick loved an armchair supporter.
As I’m sure you all know, Rick never missed an opportunity to raise money for charity. With that in mind we have set up a fundraising page in his memory here. Any money donated will be divided between the Edgbaston Foundation and the BCFC Community Trust. Both do great work using sport to help their local communities and both are causes Rick supported. Please donate any money you might have otherwise spent on flowers or travelling to or from the funeral, or even having a drink to him to these two very worthy causes.
Finally, once we are all able to get together again, we will absolutely be holding a celebration of Rick’s life. We don’t know where or when this will be yet, but we do know that we would like people to contribute memories of Rick for a booklet that will be available at the event. These can be anything. Short or long, but preferably short. Silly or serious, but preferably silly. If you would like to contribute to this, please send your words to us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note that we cannot guarantee that we will use your contribution in the final booklet, but we will endeavour to include as many as possible.
Ann, Jeanette and Julian.
